ANDREW FORTUNE : No one would have beaten him

« What did I tell you last week ? I was a little bit worried since we broke from draw nine, but classwise, no horse in the field would have beaten him today. I wanted the race to be a true-run one. The best horse won.»
« I tell you one thing : I was confident all the way. Down the road I was cantering and it was just a question of getting him in the right position. I had Liquid Motion in front of me and Intercontinental three-wide on my outside. He was not travelling that well. I was always cantering and I could feel I could beat them at any moment. »
We discussed the race all over the week and I must concede that it went out pretty much easy for me. Entering the home straight I knew that he wouldn’t get beaten. I would like to dedicate this win to Mrs Elisa Lagesse, one of the owners of Tales Of Bravery.»
Tales Of Bravery, a quality individual
« Actually this is one of the main reason why I came to Mauritius as I knew that with Tales Of Bravery I had a good chance to win the Gold Cup. This is what I wanted to and this is what you race for. A big thank to Ricky for having brought me down here. The horses are running well. Ricky put his trust in me and by God’s grace, everything’s going well. »
« Tales Of Bravery is definitely a quality individual. He doesn’t show big things at home but he has got ample class. I have ridden a lot of quality horses during my career and he is one of them.»
« I love the crowd and they love me too. But you know things change from one week to another so… (laughs) I have noticed that during my first three meetings here. »
« Overall it was a good day. I must confess I was expecting one or two more wins especially with Wonderlaine and Captain Tempest. But for sure they will win before the end of the season.»
He will be better without. »
« I’m very happy for Ricky and his wife. Ricky asked me to drop him at the back. He was travelling beautifully and I must say that down the road, I was pretty confident he would make it up. He was cantering at the back and at the beginning of the straight, it was all about taking him to the post. I think he was in the right division.»
