ANUP KUMAR MUDGAL, HIGH COMMISSIONER OF INDIA : « The India-Mauritius partnership is much more than the DTAC »

 Le partenariat entre l’Inde et Maurice va bien au-delà du traité de non double imposition (DTAC) entre nos deux pays. C’est ce qu’a déclaré le Haut-commissaire de l’Inde à Maurice, Anup Kumar Mudgal, qui commentait pour la première fois pour Le Mauricien l’accord signé par le secrétaire financier, Dev Manraj, et lui mercredi sur la révision du traité. Les amendements apportés au traité, dit-il, réduisent l’incertitude et améliorent la prévisibilité des services financiers indien et mauricien. Le traité de non-double imposition, estime-t-il, sera un instrument précieux qui servira nos deux pays pour des années encore, aussi longtemps qu’il répond aux exigences qu’impose le changement rapide au niveau international. Le Haut-commissaire précise que le grant de Rs 12,7 milliards n’est pas une compensation. « India has been a steadfast partner in the socio-economic development of Mauritius from the very beginning – be it capacity and institution building or iconic landmarks such as the Cyber City and SVICC », soutient-il.
Excellency, after years of negotiations, Mauritius and India have finally reached an agreement on the revision of DTAT. Can you please give your first reaction ?
We are very happy that this agreement finally provides certainty and predictability to the financial services sector on both sides, while providing adequate safeguards and provisions to address any concerns during the transition period. The process of arriving at a mutually acceptable solution to this issue has been underway for a long time, and we are very pleased that our consultative dialogue mechanism has yielded such a forward-looking result.
