« I think the connexions were quite confident of their horse’s chances even if his form in South Africa had been on further distance. Since I’m riding here, I’ve come to notice that there seems to be some kind of a pattern for staying horses. When they come here, they drop back in distance the first time and they sometimes get away with it, which is exactly what happened with No Resistance today. The instructions were to get to the front and he was brave enough to see the race through », nous a relaté Jean Pierre Guillambert à l’issue de la journée.
« The last 150m seemed to be a long way for Cherish The Charm »
« The bad draw didn’t do Gris Cheval any huge favours, specially since he was stepping back in trip. Had it been a 1600m race, he could have had a little bit more time to find some position but I have to say he ran a solid enough race. As for Lividus, he also ran a fair race but he just lacked that little extra in the final straight ». De la prestation de Cherish The Charm, le club jockey nous dira qu’il a « run according to his normal racing pattern but to me, the last 150m seemed to be a long way for him. The trainer told me to hit the front and go at a good gallop though, which is what I did in this particular case ». «He was a little bit hot-headed before the race but I think he will improve immensely following this run. With the atmopshere around the place, it can be a little bit confusing for young horses like him », nous a-t-il soutenu.
« You would expect with a sharp track like the Champ de Mars that it would be ideal for frontrunners, which it is, but only for a frontrunner that can get an easy lead. If your horse gets some badgering along the way, the last 800-1000m can be quite difficult but you can get away with it if you can still feel your horse up when he gets to that final straight ». « I’m expecting to catch my flight at 10 o’clock (rires). I’m going back home for a week and I will be missing the next meeting, which is quite a shame actually as I was starting to find my rhythm here ».
