COOPÉRATION BILATÉRALE:L’Inde octroie une ligne de crédits de 7,5 md à Maurice
Le Premier ministre indien Manmohan Singh a annoncé l’octroi d’une ligne de crédits de Rs 7,5 milliards (250 millions de dollars américains) à Maurice. Un Grant de Rs 600 millions sera également accordé pour le financement d’un planétarium au Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre. Ce développement, qui s’insère dans le New Economic Package, est intervenu dans le cadre de la visite d’État qu’effectue actuellement le Premier ministre Navin Ramgoolam à la tête d’une importante délégation officielle en Inde depuis le début de cette semaine.
Le Premier ministre indien Manmohan Singh a déclaré que « It’s a great honour for me to welcome Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam on a State Visit. He is a very special friend of India and a distinguished member of the Indian diaspora. Our relations are rooted in strong historical and cultural links. India has been a long standing development partner of Mauritius. »
Les deux gouvernements ont par ailleurs procédé à la signature d’accords après la séance de travail entre le Premier ministre indien et son homologue mauricien. Les Memoranda of Understanding portent sur les domaines suivants : la science et la technologie, l’éducation, les sports et la jeunesse. Les deux accords de coopération concernent le ministère mauricien de l’Industrie, du Commerce et de la Protection des consommateurs et ministère indien du Textile et le Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre Trust Fund à Maurice et le National Council of Museums de l’Inde.
Le Premier ministre a pour sa part mis l’accent sur les relations d’affaires entre l’Inde et Maurice et le potentiel d’investissements. « Mauritius and India are agreeable to promote greater business relations. I am accompanied by a strong business delegation and I am sure that the two Business Forums that will be held in Delhi and Mumbai will result in a stronger partnership between our business communities. The focus will be not only investment opportunities in Mauritius, but also the tremendous potential unfolding in Africa. Mauritius is well poised, by virtue of its strategic location, to be the springboard for Indian companies to do business with Africa », s’est-il appesanti.

The India-Mauritius relationship is not to be confused,with street politics.India nor China needs Mauritius to do business in Africa!However if an Indian company decides to base its operation in Mauritius,it means investment and new skills, coming in the country,which when translated means jobs.There are already 400 Indian firms based in the UK,taking advantage of UK's membership of the EU.Indian firms are more at ease with the English language,not that there are no frenchrussian/spanish Indian nationals! speaking.The same applies to China!The usual baseless,ignorant view of India by quite a number of Mauritian citizens,simply does not do justice to India.Still India is well on the way to become the 21st century power house...whether the poor ignorant(sometimes racist) Mauritians like it or not!
