ÉCURIE GUJADHUR : Retour victorieux de Holland

Darryl Holland n’a pas tardé à reprendre ses bonnes habitudes après sa brève escapade dans le pays des Ming pour le compte du China Equine Cultural Festival les 11 et 12 octobre dernier. Avec un nouveau doublé à son actif samedi dernier, The Dazzler a porté son total de victoires à 12 unités et il espère bien terminer la saison sur une belle note.
La journée promettait déjà d’être belle pour l’écurie Gujadhur avec une quasi full card pour le Britannique qui se signala d’entrée de jeu avec Fidelis. Bien qu’il manqua sa mise en action, ce fils de Solksjaer sortit un joli coup de reins pour reprendre ses adversaires au finish. Une victoire qui en a surpris plus d’un, à commencer par son entraîneur. « Pour être franc, je n’accordais aucune chance à Fidelis face à des chevaux de la trempe de High Accolade. Je tiens à dédier cette course à Bharti qui était assez confiant. Je suis très content pour lui car il se donne beaucoup de peine mais il faut aussi souligner la superbe monte de Darryl Holland qui est un world class rider. Il m’a informé hier qu’il avait reçu une offre du Japon mais je ne sais pas encore ce qu’il fera l’année prochaine. C’est quelqu’un qui fait tout le temps de son mieux, c’est un professional to the core et on est très chanceux de l’avoir parmi nous », se réjouit Ramapatee Gujadhur.
Darryl Holland s’est dit, pour sa part, heureux d’engranger une nouvelle victoire pour son employeur. « It’s nice to be back. It was a successful trip to China. There were four races and I won the first ride, beating David Flores, the american jockey. It was a great experience and it’s another winner on my CV in another country. It was not intentional to miss the kick but Fidelis did. He’s a horse that can run a bit free like he did the last time against Strum. We thought he needed a stronger ride today because we are getting to the end of the season and the stable needs the winners and so do I. I decided to pull him off because I did not want to get stopped as I had to get a clear run to win. He was very brave till the end. I did give him a few good reminders to keep him up to his work but he just got there. I’m glad it worked out well. I’ve had a successful day in China and it’s nice to get back for the boss and reward him as well ».

La passe de deux fut réalisée par Blood Buccaneer au terme d’une course tactique. Non content du rythme proposé par Shoddy Nick, la monture de Holland prit le train à son compte et elle résista au retour de Parado et Dustan pour s’imposer. « It was always going to be a tactical race when we missed one horse in the paddock before the start (NDLR : Georgean Boy). I really did not count that horse as he could not really win so it was a five-horse race. The one I had to beat went in the front. Johnny Geroudis is a good tactical rider and he went to slow us up. I wanted to go faster and that won me the race. It was a game effort but luckily I held on till the end ». Zambezi Torrent aura, en revanche, déçu malgré un bon parcours à la corde. Son cavalier est d’avis qu’il a manqué de punch, tout en concédant qu’il n’aurait pas pu battre Donnie Brasco.
Quant à Bastille Day, le poids de l’âge commence à se faire sentir. « Bastille Day is getting older now. He found the ground a bit firm today. It was a very dry day and he did not really appreciate the racing conditions. I’m not too sure if he’ll be running again this season. We’ll see how he comes out because he pulled a little unsound at the 100m mark where he took a bad step ». Cash Lord devrait, pour sa part, bientôt faire parler de lui. « I thought Cash Lord would run a bit better. He was baulked the last bit and was short of room. I should have been closer on the horse running to the line but I just ran out of room. We’re expecting a better run from him next time, so watch out for that one ».
A une semaine de la Coupe D’Or, The Dazzler nous a avoué qu’il n’avait pas encore décidé de sa monte bien qu’il ait déjà sa petite idée sur le sujet. « Tandragee and Bulsara both seem ok. We’re gonna gallop them on the grass on Tuesday and we’ll make our decision after looking at the draws. Bulsara is a favourite horse of mine and as it stands now I will probably choose him. I think he’s a class horse. I stood with him for his last race and that was a hard decision over Vettel. I think the decision is slightly easier this time ».
Invité à se prononcer sur son avenir, Darryl Holland refusa d’exclure un retour la saison prochaine. « I’ll certainly consider any offer from the Gujadhur family but nothing has been agreed yet. If they do not want me back, maybe somebody else will. I’ve got a contract in Japan that takes me up to the 27th of March but I’m available after that. I’m enjoying my stay here and that’s the main thing. I don’t see why I should not come back if people want me to ».
