PARLEMENT—VIOL D’UNE FILLETTE: Une enquête instituée sur la responsabilité de l’école

Le cas de viol d’une fillette de 10 ans à la Petite-Rivière Government School a fait l’objection d’un « statement » au Parlement hier par la ministre de l’Éducation, Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun. La ministre a annoncé l’institution d’une enquête complète sur toute cette affaire, en particulier les raisons pour lesquelles l’établissement scolaire a laissé l’écolière partir avec le suspect sans le consentement des parents. Des actions sont également à prévoir du côté de la Petite-Rivière Government School dans l’éventualité où des fautes graves auraient été commises.
« Explanations will also be sought from the school as to why (i) no parental consent was sought prior to the release of the child on that day, unlike on previous occasions when the parents were contacted ; and (ii) the substantial delay in reporting the matter to the Zone and to the Ministry. As stated earlier, enquiry is on at the level of Police and CDU. Moreover, I have ordered a full-fledged enquiry on the matter and also on the circumstances that led to the release from school of the child on that day. The enquiry team will also be called upon to situate responsibilities and recommend disciplinary actions to be taken against those who have failed in their duties », a déclaré la ministre de l’Éducation lors de son intervention à l’Assemblée nationale hier.
