TO PAUL BÉRENGER: Beware of That Man!

That man will do anything and everything to cling to power. He will not hesitate to barter his soul to the devil to stay in power. After all, did he not say that he would be in office for the 14 years to come. Last year for the inauguration of Bras D'eau National Park in his speech flavoured with politics, he said inter alia that there are people who see only problems but they never come forward with solutions: “Ce genre de personnes aura à attendre longtemps avant d'entrer au paradis.” It is clear that it is direct cut to the opposition who will have to cool their heels for many years before he will relinquish power for them.Meanwhile he and his government are in paradise. Who will contradict Elton John with his song “Another day with you in paradise.” “Qui dit paradis dit Maja karo,Tam-Tam, Jalsa, Gaspillage, Copinage.''  And on that very occasion, holding a spade in his hands to plant a sapling, he said : “avek samem mo pou enterre l'Opposition”. What a determination to cling to power!
Despite his make-believe that everything is all right, that his position as P.M is unshakeable, today he knows that he is at the head of a weak and incompetent government which is moving but lamely with the assistance of two turncoats. He knows that he is in a position of weakness while the force of the Opposition is snowballing with the social and economic situation which is moving from bad to worse.
The MMM which polled 44% in the last Elections today stand far beyond 50% while the Labour Party has definitely gone down in the poll, especially with the departure of the MSM from L'Alliance de L'Avenir which has no doubt become “L'Alliance du Passé.” With such a government Navin knows that his days are numbered. It will be practically impossible for him to solicit the electorate to vote his government back to business again. Consequently if he wants to stay in office for 14 years, he will have no alternative than to hitch up his wagon either to MMM or the MSM. As for the latter, although everything is possible in our local politics, it is unimaginable to imagine a rapprochement between the two parties. The 14 months spent with Navin has been a bitter experience for the MSM. I don't think they will swallow that pill again. Therefore, Navin will try to wheedle Paul and the MMM again with his honeyed words. He will use them as a stepping stone again to gain a fresh mandate to quench his thirst for power. Once his objective is achieved, he will not hesitate to send Paul and his Party browsing in the pasture as Mark Antony in Julius Caesar did to Lepidus. Antony used Lepidus to carry and fetch for the triumvirate and then got rid of him.
I hope that Paul and the Militants still have in mind what Navin did to them in 1997 after having used them to win the Elections in 1995. Never forget what he did to his dear friend and Minister of Finance, Rama Sithanen who helped him to redress the economy of the country. He had not hesitated a single second to stab Rama in the back to achieve his ends.
Today the country is in dire need of a new government to bring a breath of fresh air to the socio-economic climate of the country. And the MMM has the exact team to perform that job. They don't need the Labour Party which they have associated with a pack of scandals. If they ally themselves with Navin and his Party, it will amount to a clear endorsement of their misdeeds. At a pinch, and to be on the safe side, a remake of 2000 would be an ideal alliance and the winning formula for a new government. So, I would advise Paul Bérenger to think twice before he moves his pawn on the political chessboard.

In a letter to Berenger I would write:

What has happened to the bold demand " finissions avec les alliances contre-natures par une reforme electorale" which you made at the height of the "latest" Med-point scandal?

When you made your declaration in July 2011, many well-wishers were willing to give you unconditional support, judged by comments on the blogs. I, for one, wrote the following in L'express electronic:

"New-MMM?

Merci."

How does a projet du siecle turn into a never ending open-ended shameful debate about how best to "re-name" a Best-Loser? We have become a nation busy deciding on what is the most fashionable term under which to "maintain the communalist element in our electoral system".

But you do know what the people needs. This is clear from your statement of July 2011. You know that the culture of alliances and counter-alliances is a curse for this country. So why not propose a reform of the whole system, rather than just tinkering with the semantics about minority- representation. What do these do for the people, anyway?

It goes without saying that politicians should steer clear of the reform process, and that a true reform will necessitate changes in all other aspects of our political system, including an examination of the type of government that best empowers the people in towns and villages. Of course we need more transparency, and an expectation of high moral standing among prospective Councillors and Parliamentarians. Yes, a reform of the political system can not be envisaged without a reform of local governance. Of course the political parties will have to metamorphose in response. Perhaps, then you would be considering your well deserved retirement.

Yours sincerely,
Tryptophan

PS:

Just last week a UK Minister resigned only because of an alleged driving offence. Well, compare this to Med-point. In terms of morality we do have a long long way to go. So let us start now.

And the MMM has the exact team to perform that job. You are getting panicked. MMM is only in Stanley-Rose Hill and around Bar Chacha. Elsewhere, they dare even not to set their feet. Have you ever seen MMM in Flacq and its villages? Euhhh...which village in Flacq?

tout bande politicien moris la pe just get richer et pe detruire the future and resources of the island. THis is why so many students and leaders of tomorrow leaves for Australia, Canada, UK and other places and dont come back!!!

What if the invisible hand of history dictate that in the superior interest of the nation the PTr and MMM join again?
Yet, you can bet anything: if MMM goes alone for the next elections, PTr and MSM will join again, this also in the superior interest of the nation.
