I had an important meeting with a C-level executive. I was looking for feedback on my company pitch presentation. As she was analyzing my posts on LinkedIn (I regularly publish on LinkedIn now), she told me that she had a lot of difficulties dealing with Millenials. And she had a Millenial entrepreneur sitting besides her making a presentation. Life is really beautiful

When I was a child I was told to study hard
An open door to a good secondary school, my ward
Reaching adolescence I was pressed to do my best
This should ensure success in all my tests

Last week, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) emitted a controversial ruling in the context of the case of Samira Achbita, who was dismissed from her job as a receptionist at the Belgian branch of G4S, the London-listed outsourcing and security company. After three years at the firm, in May 2006, she informed her employers that she wanted to start wearing a headscarf at work for religious reasons.

I would like to call on this Council (Watford Borough Council) to help find strategic ways across party to help tackle loneliness. This Council notes that being or living alone in total isolation can be a public health issue and risk that must be tackled starting at a local level. It is estimated one in ten people of pensionable age living in our constituency are likely to be classed as lonely or severely lonely.

Over the last eleven years compared to the average robust growth rate of 8% that was promised when the highest tax brackets were eliminated starting in 2006.

Over the last eleven years compared to the average robust growth rate of 8% that was promised when the highest tax brackets were eliminated starting in 2006. The almost three-quarter trillion rupee GDP gap -- the 80% estimate of Business Mauritius times the Sithanen toohrooh -- clearly tells us that our private sector did not create value anywhere near the levels needed to justify the 15% flat tax. That was kind of expected when we consider the stupid ways it was financed and the kind of massively unproductive FDI we've been chasing.

Britain is a multicultural society and schools reflect this. Although the medium of instruction is English, it is not unusual to hear children speaking a variety of languages. In order to accommodate children from various cultural backgrounds, British schools had to re-invent the curriculum and the teaching methods. Teachers are being trained to teach in a multicultural environment. The government and local authorities have invested heavily to provide quality education to the new generation of British children. I teach in an inner city school in London and I want to share my experiences and challenges.

Their way of life has similarities to human civilisation thousands of years ago.  72% of calories come from carbohydrates, 14% from fat. They are also far more physically active with the men averaging 17,000 steps a day and the women 16,000. Prof Naveed Sattar, from the University of Glasgow, said: "Simply put, a diet very low in saturated fat and full of unprocessed products, not smoking and being active life long, is associated with the lowest risk of having furring up of blood vessels."

The march of progress has come to a halt. Not abruptly. The writing has been on the wall for some time; the blurring of ideologies with a centrist vagueness now the path adopted by many politicians on the left, that growingly consumerist culture and the resignation of progressives. Regressive forces in Mauritius and worldwide are working full throttle. In the pursuit of higher margins and greater power, they have judiciously placed their pawns in positions of power. Varoufakis aptly phrases it, “one can be in government today and not in power, because power has migrated from the political to the economic sphere”. This is further accentuated in Mauritius which has a political financing system that is mired in opacity and therefore plays to the advantage of those who have financial might.

The financial services sector is fragile and a high-risk high-reward strategy does not work. If confidence and trust are to prevail, risk has to be mitigated. Perception and reality have to be mirror images of each other. In other words, there should be no element of doubt in a sector which thrives on confidence, trust, absolute transparency and accountability.

The health care system of Singapore is the marvel of the wealthy world. The Singaporean structure does not necessarily minimize state involvement or redistribution.

The health care system of Singapore is the marvel of the wealthy world. The Singaporean structure does not necessarily minimize state involvement or redistribution. It minimizes direct public spending and third-party payments, while maximizing people’s exposure to what treatments actually cost. The Singaporean vision is built around personal responsibility and private spending, but also a degree of statism and paternalism that present-day American conservatism instinctively rejects.

A Constitution is basically a set of rules which provides a regulatory framework for the government and its people. Our Constitution was drafted in 1968. Since then, Mauritius has evolved massively but the Constitution is still lagging behind. Socio-economic rights such as the right to an adequate standard of living, including the rights to food and housing which are fundamental to a society are still not codified.

I should like at the very outset to lay strong emphasis on the need for civil society or citizens’ organisations across the world to be ready and prepared to help protect new fragile democracies against the danger of backsliding, to contribute to successful democratic transitions from the rule of authoritarianism, and to guard against extremist movements and intolerant majorities, in well-established democracies.

As Mauritius prepares to celebrate 50 years of independence in less than a year, the time is no doubt ripe to reflect on the kind of country we aspire to live in.

50 years is a watershed moment for many and a number of African countries have recently passed that mark. The one country that springs to mind as a model of citizenry engagement both qualitatively and quantitatively is Ghana.

Fille. Femme.

49 years after the Independence of Mauritius, it seems that the economy is in shambles. Socio-economic problems such as unemployment, poverty, and homelessness are still prevailing at a high rate in the country while we are talking of Smart Cities, Metro express and multiple missions abroad resulting in almost next to nothing.

Socio-economic problems such as unemployment, poverty, and homelessness are still prevailing at a high rate in the country while we are talking of Smart Cities, Metro express and multiple missions abroad resulting in almost next to nothing. Does Mauritius really need these projects when we are already so heavily indebted. Indebting the country further will perhaps benefit only ‘some people’, leaving large segments of youth of my generation with enormous debts on our shoulders.
