On a momentous eve at St. Ives,
in Cornwall
great expectations
had been in the ferment,
the stage getting set
for the meeting of the minds
of the movers and shakers
of this world, by prayers,
pleas and by protestations
in peace accompanied,
the stakes in a purpose
deemed higher than ever
by leaders of the free world,
the led in their multitude,
calling for a voice, hand
in hand to walk
together to roll back
the tides of fear and threat,
seeking a just balance
between bread and
butter and the survival
of the earth, her very viability;
it is a hard task, a tough call
way beyond expediency,
beyond sheer oratory, to the will
for actualisation, doing all it takes
to eradicate or mitigate
the menaces, largely of human
making at the root,
the redressing is also about
fairness within and between nations.,
the moment being opportune;
there are powered strolls on fine sands,
with images of mighty figures,
now here, then to be no more,
contemplating the splendours
all round, instilled with wonder,
but also serving as a poignant
reminder of all that will be lost,
so saving the magic of this place
and others, is paramount;
while the entreaty is not for
the seventh heaven, the apogee,
but a lasting first one to be sure!
