Le ministre des Finances, Renganaden Padayachy, devait justifier la hausse du prix de l’essence et du diesel du fait que la vaccination contre la Covid-19 est offerte gratuitement.
« Government has spent some Rs 550 million on the acquisition of vaccines up to now », a-t-il indiqué lors de la présentation du Budget 2021-22, ce vendredi 11 juin à l’Assemblée nationale.
« Going forward, we know that we will still have to live with the Covid-19 », a-t-il poursuivi. « Hence, vaccination programs will have to be rolled out on a regular basis to continuously protect the health of our citizens ».
De fait, « in order to bear the cost in a sustainable manner, we are introducing a levy of Rs 2 per litre on mogas and diesel for the purchase of vaccines ».
« Thus, making vaccination free for all », a-t-il conclu, sous les ricanements de l’hémicycle.
