A sanctified day it is to remember,
on which to celebrate the victory
of good over evil,
of bright hope over dark despair.
There would be much cleansing
before the anointed oil
fills up the clay lamps in every
corner , in rows assembled , to light up
the homes , the courtyards,
rather more the spirits and souls.
Beyond the outward manifestations
in visible venerableness,
attention is given to inner purification,
blessed by the benign light
that illuminates our benighted world,
irradiating our universes and our lives.
It is thus a day of devotional offerings
in profuse thankfulness
for the munificence of graciousness,
with the sweetest thoughts and sentiments,
betokening the bountiful giving,
receiving, in acts of blessed sharing.
