Le problème de distribution d’eau potable fait réagir les habitants de Goodlands, Petit-Raffray, Roche-Terre, Grand-Gaube, Pereybère et de Calodyne. Ce qui a amené Vishal Bijloll, travailleur social, à écrire au ministre des Finances, Renganaden Padayachy, lui demandant de s’assurer d’un approvisionnement régulier du précieux liquide dans les régions concernées.
« On behalf of the inhabitants of Goodlands, Petit-Raffray, Roche-Terre, Grand-Gaube, Pereybère, Calodyne and other affected regions, could I please request you to genuinely consider allocating the appropriate funding, so that at least 2 or 3 of the cited projects are implemented ? For instance, the rehabilitation and upgrading of Poudre-d’Or balancing tank, mobilisation and treatment of water from Bassin Grand Marais and also the upgrading of the pipe network. We are not asking for a 24/7 service but for a regular supply and adequate pressure. As stated by the CWA, this investment will be essential to also cater for the water needs for future development. It is hoped that this request will be favourably considered in view of the growing pressure on the existing network and capacity. M. A., une octogénaire habitant Goodlands, témoigne aussi de la situation. « Ce problème d’eau dure de très longues années. Pas plus loin que la semaine dernière, j’ai dû me réveiller à deux heures du matin pour aller récupérer un peu d’eau et faire la vaisselle qui était restée deux jours dans l’évier.
