ADOLESCENTS – Who are to be blamed?

The death of another adolescent, a fifteen year old girl, shook me up to such an extent that I felt it important to share my views and reflections on this sensitive matter.
Adolescence is a word which rhymes with effervescence, continues with the pattern of delinquence and ends with decadence or with influence, depending on the circumstance.  What most people consider their most beautiful years can be the most trying, the most difficult years of a lifetime.  Adolescent, who are you?  A child?  A puppet?  A young adult?  A little alien?  Difficult to understand and incapable to bear with any type of stand.  Such is how I perceive an adolescent.  What goes on in the mind of such a being, only he or she knows about it.  Worse, what goes on in the heart of such a being, he or she may never put a meaning on it by himself or herself.
Suicide, a strong word relating to an easy escape.  But should it be the only escape?  On whom shall we throw the blame?  Is it the teachers?  Is it the matters of the heart? Is it the society?  Is it the so-called child?  Could it be the parents?  Or rather, should it not be God?  After all, he created this world…
Ridden by everything, some of these little beings harden into mature adults.  Some others become stereotyped individuals, while some remain shattered.  Some lose their sanity. Unfortunately, some lose their lives.  A common trend it is nowadays to hear of young beings being prone to self destructive attitudes.  At one time, during my star days, the singers were the cause of it all.  I am referring to Marilyn Manson who sings of darkness and weirdness.
Well, in my opinion what is lacking is the real love and attention that the adolescent requires.  Too busy is everyone, to notice that a little being wants to discover the world, with help and guidance.   The innocence of a youth only desires to bloom and blossom. Easy it is to blame such a puzzled being. YOU are the cause of it all.  YOU are the bandit around here.  YOU are the one responsible for your own decadence.
In the same light, easy it is as well to place a label on such a being.  Liar, thief, vagabond, lunatic, immature, irresponsible! When in fact, care should have been taken to see that the fragile life thread of these beings is being solidified.  Help and joy should be given in the guise of a smile or while trying to make them feel valued.  Do we cater for all these?  Some of us may give that caring hand.  Some of us may be blind.  Some of us may choose to save them.  Some of us may be too selfish.  As we see only ourselves and our images.  The society is such, with all its man-made rules and regulations.
“They must’n know my despair, I can’t let them see the wounds which they have caused, I couldn’t bear their sympathy and their kind-hearted jokes, it would only make me want to scream all the more. If I talk, everyone thinks I’m showing off; when I’m silent they think I’m ridiculous; rude if I answer, sly if I get a good idea, lazy if I’m tired, selfish if I eat a mouthful more than I should, stupid, cowardly, crafty, etc. etc,”  From the diary of Anne Frank.
Adolescence, a period where the senses are matured and the thoughts become individualistic.  I sincerely believe that such a period should be positive and joyful. Family, schools, support groups should try to see the young beings as they really are.  Even with everything that happens to adolescents, it should be not a wonder to see that some choose to remain so forever as they are not able to grow into reliable adults.
