DISTINCTION – UNIVERSITÉ DE SURREY, GRANDE-BRETAGNE : Le Vice-Chancellor’s Alumni Award 2015 décerné à Ameenah Gurib-Fakim

La présidente de la République, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, a été nommée “alumna of the year” par l’Université de Surrey de Grande-Bretagne, qui lui a octroyé le Vice-Chancellor’s Alumni Award 2015. Ce trophée est attribué annuellement à un diplômé de l’Université ayant apporté une contribution remarquable dans son domaine ou à la société durant l’année écoulée.
« The calibre of nominations was as high as ever, showcasing the exceptional work of our alumni across the globe. Ameenah, who is also founder and Managing Director of CIDP Research & Innovation, was appointed to her new role in June 2015 and as such is also Head of State and Commander in Chief of the Republic of Mauritius », souligne un communiqué de l’Université. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim a fait ses études universitaires en chimie à Surrey en 1983. Elle a été une enseignante-chercheuse avant d’accéder au titre de pro vice-chancelier de l’Université de Maurice. Elle a par la suite fondé sa propre entreprise de biotechnologie spécialisée dans la recherche sur les implications médicales et nutritives des plantes indigènes à Maurice.
