« We write to officially request an urgent meeting with you to discuss numerous pending matters in relation the recent strike. We wish to discuss : the implementation of the decision of the new Prime Minister and Minister of Finance that all payments in relation to the lawful strike days be paid to all employees by MSPA members. The implementation of the Agreement signed by the JNP-MSPA under the aegis of the Ministry and ex-Minister of Labour and Industrial Relations and critical State decisions taken in relation to the end strike. The remaining crucial issues are : the nomination of an Arbitrator need to be finalized, the Review of Remuneration Orders within three months of three critical issues pertaining to non-agricultural and agricultural works of the sugar industry, namely Retirement benefits and age and Night Shift allowance and the Review of the Sugar Industry Remuneration Order of the Non-agricultural workers, so as to ensure without any ambiguity the inclusion of workers of refineries, ethanol, distilleries within the Remuneration Order », déclarent les dirigeants syndicaux, dont Ashok Subron, Serge Jauffret, Lall Dewnath, Devanand Ramjuttun et Denis Moutou.
« We take this opportunity to put on record our appreciation of the fact the first governmental decision’s has been to render justice to sugar sector employees who participated in the first ever lawful strike of our history » notent-ils en ajoutant que « as you are aware labourers-artisans and sugar industry workers went on lawful 9 days strike amidst the recent electoral campaign. They were heavily penalized due to the proximity of the previous government and the Ptr-MMM alliance with sugar industry oligarchs. »
