Pour le Head Of Corporate Banking de la HSBC, Dean Lam, « it is the time to reflect on the year just past by and celebrate its successes with our customers. It is also an opportunity for HSBC to thank our customers for their businesses & continued support ». « It says the Dragon is a fierce animal and 2012 can be a super good year. But it will be a fierce dragon from the start and advise all to be cautious as the year will start with many people having financial difficulties or loosing money. The prediction is very similar to our Economist view that things are likely to get worse before they get better. We should take our inspiration from the auspicious dragon of asian mythology, taking decisions carefully in radiness for an eventual return to market stability. To the great credit of this country’s 1.3 million inhabitants, the Mauritius Miracle did not falter. In my view a key reason for this was the government’s astute decision to position Mauritius as a springboard for trade and investment between Asia – especially India and China – and the fast growing markets of Africa. HSBC remains attracted to the prospects of Mauritius because the country’s strategy dovetails with our core skills as the leading bank for cross-border connectivity, skills that have been at the heart of our value proposition for well over 140 years. »
