RÉSOLUTION SUR LES CHAGOS À L’ONU – PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE : « La victoire dédiée à SAJ »

Le Prime Minister’s Office a émis un communiqué hier pour dédier la victoire du pays lors du vote sur la résolution de Maurice en vue d’une Advisory Opinion contre Londres sur les Chagos à « sir Anerood Jugnauth, the last survivor of the Constitutional talks ». Tout en rappelant l’issue du vote lors de la réunion plénière de l’assemblée générale des Nations unies de jeudi, le Prime Minister’s Office note : « The world is now aware of the historical injustice caused to Mauritius when the colonial power dismembered the Chagos Archipelago from our territory prior to independence. In the process of this detachment, the Chagossians have been subjected to great humiliation and suffering. The successful vote at the United Nations yesterday is a victory for Mauritius including our Chagossian brothers and sisters. »
Plus loin, le gouvernement met l’accent sur la « team work and sustained efforts by the government to rally support of the international community to our cause ». Maurice a tenu à montrer son appréciation « of the support expressed by the African Union, the Non-Aligned Movement, SADC, other regional and sub-regional groupings as well as other friendly countries like India, Saudi Arabia, Trinidad and Tobago, Malaysia, El Salvador, Uruguay and several other Latin American and Asian countries ».
