RICKY MAINGARD : I’m working hard and trying my best, a déclaré Brandon Lerena

« I’m a bit disappointed not to get a winner today but I’m working hard and trying my best. At the end of the day, you just have to keep on trying and hope the results will change and work in your favour. I think Tube Wave was the most unlucky of my rides. He just did a little bit too much in the top turn. It’s very hard to race three wide with a heavy mass. He would have been more relaxed had he been able to secure that position and he would have had more of a finish and won the race. He’s a very gutsy horse. He gave me absolutely everything », nous dira d’emblée le jockey.
« He was really unlucky not to get a run in the final straight. He settled well in the race which was a bonus. He just needed a clear run. He would have finished strongly but it’s hard to say if he would have won. It’s all just hearsay », a cependant reconnu le cavalier sud-africain. « The draw killed Al Mahara. He just did not have that sting when he was out of the gates to overcome his bad draw and get into position. He just compounded in the straight. He was coughing but the veterinary report showed that he did not bleed which is a blessing ».
« Straight Jab has become a very hard horse to work, he does not work in the mornings. The boss managed to get him in a barrier trial but you need that maintenance work in between. He felt a little bit off in the straight but it’s hard to make assumptions on horses when they’re not at their best ».
