Sophistry, casuistry

Nowadays the counterblast stridence

is loud and clear.

Self-proclaimed refined minds,

intellects of pumped-up stature

opine as they wish,

expectorating their invective,

their biliousness, and all

from dodgy standpoints, irrespective

of the norms of veracity; after the fall

of the great,  but not good, equally

guilty are others adjudged to be

by facile inference, willy-nilly.

So the lazy armchair observer

of the world scene, the sciolist,

feels no need to verify

assertions as to their plausibility,

becoming thus  accessories

to the atrocities of rank prejudices.
