IN THE STEWARDS’ ROOM : Dinesh Sooful trouvé coupable écope d’une suspension de 2 semaines

Dinesh Sooful devra purger une mise à pied de deux semaines pour n’avoir pas monté Liam à la satisfaction des Racing Stewards. Ce sont les retombées de l’enquête initiée mardi matin.
Dinesh Sooful a plaidé non coupable de la faute qui lui fut imputée étant donné qu’il a, selon lui, suivi les instructions de l’entraîneur Budheswar Gujadhur à la lettre. D’après lui, il ne pouvait être sanctionné et c’est les larmes aux yeux qu’il apprit qu’il devra observer un repos forcé de deux semaines.
Quelles étaient les instructions ? «Jump out to lead. Don’t insist if someone challenges you as the horse has previously won from behind. No to go for a cut throat as the horse was beaten by 5L last time out. We were aware that other runners would challenge for the lead. We gave him a moderate chance», devait déclarer l’entraîneur.
Ces ordres furent confirmés par Dinesh Sooful. «Jump out, do not bounce and if somebody come to challenge, don’t fight and sit second or third. I saw Supersonic Sam and Istiqraar and let them go.»
Budheswar Gujadhur a tenu à faire ressortir que lorsque «the leader slowed down a bit, Liam began to pull that may be why he did not kick that well in the finish.»
Dinesh Sooful devait aussi confirmer que «we heard that horses would chase us.»
Ian Paterson trouva alors que «You restrained your horse after looking to the outside. Then you got another hold of your horse.»
Budheswar Gujadhur souligna alors «He was where he wanted to be. For us, Istiqraar was a hard nut to crack. He was in a commanding position and just did not kick.»
Ian Paterson fut d’avis que «Liam was entitled to go for more than 25m.»
Samraj Mahadia intervint à son tour pour demander des éclaircissements.
«Did you do enough to take the lead. Was not there an obligation from your part to see that the pace is on instead of surrending the lead.»?
«I was told not to bounce my horse.» répondit le jockey.
Ian Paterson souligna qu’il comprenait qu’il avait établi un plan A et un plan B mais que Dinesh Sooful alla directement au plan B.
«Did you give your mount enough opportunity to run according to plan A.»?
« I went for 50m or a bit more», répondit le jockey mauricien.
Budheswar Gujadhur intervint alors pour dire que Dinesh Sooful «could have been influenced by jockey Derreck David who rode Istiqraar last year and who said that this horse was quicker than Liam.»
Le film de la course fut projeté à nouveau et il fut démontré qu’après 25m de course il n’était pas possible de voir Istiqraar vu que ce dernier était caché par Pegasus Legacy. “La caméra placée au 75m démontre que vous n’avez nullement pris l’option de monter d’après le plan A.”
Samraj Mahadia revint à la charge pour demander au jockey «Why did you not let your horse to stride in his pace, instead of restraining him.»
Le jockey Sooful répondit qu’il n’avait fait que de monter d’après les instructions et qu’il revenait d’une suspension et n’avait aucune intention de monter de façon à nuire aux chances de son cheval. Le fait de reprendre son cheval était pour éviter de monter sur les postérieurs d’Istiqraar.
Toutefois, il fut trouvé que Dinesh Sooful avait failli à satisfaire les Racing Stewards en trois occasions durant la partie initiale.
(1) After jumping on level terms, he made no real effort to take advantage of an inside barrier on a horse with natural speed.
(2) After looking to the outside, he unnecessarily restrained his mount at the 1350m when having clear running.
And (3) from the 1300m to the winning post he unnecessarily retrained his mount and allowed Istiqraar to cross infront and take his position such that leaving the 1300m, Liam had to be checked to avoid the heels of Istiqraar.
Il est à noter que le jockey Fausto Durso écopa d’une amende de Rs 25 000 samedi pour avoir enfreint le règlement 160 A alors qu’il était en selle sur Albert Dock. Il lui fut reprooché d’avoir trop repris son cheval au 1350m, gênant Storm Alterno et, par ricochet Hopes And Desires.
