In the down-to-earth dwelling, one window

there is to look out of

to see the world as it really is, to know

first hand (without the glove!)

what it feels like in all its states

and in all its textures.

Then there are the fortified mansions

with glazed windows after glazed windows

and when the all-important aperture

is reached,

with light refracted, whatever

be the perspectives, they may not be as viewed.

Yet when that which is obvious is too blinding

a tinted outlook may prove comforting.
