Yes, he changed journalism with his novelistic style, and novels with his journalistic research, but these technical feats are of small interest to non-writers. Like a good reporter, he wrote what he saw and left it to the world to interpret. What he saw were people who had wealth, refi nement and so much of the wrong stuff.
