« In that way it is also clearly understood that All school libraries and all other libraries (Documentation Units & Public Libraries) under the Ministry of Education (including those under the PSEA) will remain closed during the confinement period. Furthermore, we firmly believe that same is a wise and good decision as it will obviously prevent unnecessary propagation of the COVID 19 and ultimately maintaining safety and health », écrit Ghirishsing Gopaul, president de la Mauritius Library Association, dans une lettre adressée, jeudi, au ministère de l’Education.

« However, it is with deep concern that we have noted in some secondary schools WAP are being requested for school library Staff (Library Clerk, Senior Library Clerk, and Library Officer). Eventually they are unduly being requested to attend duty despite the fact that in reality and in practice they are not required presently », insiste-t-il dans la lettre.

« Consequently, we wish to draw your attention that Library Clerks, Senior Library Clerks and Library Officers are clearly neither involved in the preparations nor with the examinations of PSAC/NCE/SC/HSC. Unlike other school staff, Library Staff are not permitted to work for the MES in relation to the above examinations », insiste le président de l’association. « In light of the above it would be immensely appreciate if you could kindly and urgently remediate this malpractice and injustice towards school Library Staff by ensuring that ONLY related staff are attending duties. As a result those NOT required (Like school Library Staff) are not needlessly requested to attend duty », soutient le president de l’association.
