HAUT-COMMISSARIAT BRITANNIQUE: Jonathan Drew succède à Nicolas Leake à Port-Louis

Le Foreign and Commonwealth Office a annoncé, hier, la nomination d’un nouveau haut-commissaire à Port-Louis. Jonathan Drew, l’actuel Deputy Head, Africa Department, au Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Londres, succédera à Nicholas Leake à la tête de la mission diplomatique britannique à Port-Louis.
Dans une communication publiée sur le Website du FCO, Jonathan Drew souligne que « I am both delighted and honoured to have been appointed as High Commissioner to Mauritius. I look forward to building on the close British Mauritian relationship and focusing on increasing our already strong trade and investment ties ».
Le nouveau haut-commissaire britannique, qui est marié à Grant Suckling, s’est joint au service diplomatique en 1993. Il a été en « secondment to British Antarctic Survey » pendant une année en 1997 avant d’être affecté en tant que Desk Officer pour l’Australie au FCO. Puis il a été muté successivement à Dili au Timor Oriental en tant qu’adjoint au chef de mission, en Papouasie Nouvelle Guinée, à Toronto au Canada pour occuper les fonctions de Deputy Head of Counter-Terrorism Assistance Section, Head of West Africa Section au FCO et chef de l’équipe politique et militaire à l’ambassade britannique à Kaboul en Afghanistan.
