TRANSPORT EN COMMUN : Pagaille dans le paiement des salaires

La tension est montée d’un cran dans le secteur du transport en commun. En effet, les employés des différentes compagnies d’autobus ont relevé une véritable pagaille avec le paiement des salaires à la fin du mois de janvier. Ils protestent vivement contre le fait que leurs droits aient été bafoués. Ainsi, les dirigeants de l’Union of Bus Industry Workers (UBIW), Imzad Beeharry, président, Alain Kistnen, secrétaire, et Ashok Subron, négociateur, ont brandi une menace de grève si le problème des salaires n’est pas résolu dans un délai raisonnable. L’intervention du nouveau ministre du Travail et des Relations industrielles Soodesh Callichurn est quémandée à cet effet.
Les dirigeants de l’UBIW ont animé un point de presse en début d’après-midi pour attirer l’attention des autorités sur cette infraction flagrante des employeurs par rapport aux dispositions de la loi sur les salaires. « Sertin patron proprieter konpani bis ek sertin aparatchik dan CNT ki ti proteze par ansyen rezim, bizin konpran ki travayer transpor pa pou toler okenn tampering avek zot saler par kik se swa. L’UBIW a également écrit officiellement au ministre du Travail et des Relations industrielles pour lui exposer le fond du problème et l’avertir d’une menace de grève potentielle. « We wish to inform you that more than 50 % of the workers of the following bus companies : Triolet Bus Services Ltd, United Bus Services Ltd, Rose Hill Transport Ltd, Mauritian Bus Transport Ltd have not been paid remuneration within the prescribed period. At the end of January 2015, workers of the above companies have not been paid remuneration, that is, all emoluments that they are duly entitled according to law, namely under Section 3 and 9 of Public Transport (Buses) Workers Remuneration Regulations 2014 which came into operation on 1 January 2015 {Ref : Government Notice No. 227 of 2014 », écrivent les principaux animateurs de l’UBIW.
Citant des extraits de la section 9 des Public Transport (Buses) Workers Remuneration Regulations 2014, l’UBIW dénonce le fait que « employers in the above respective companies have illegally reduced the wages of workers by denying the proper payment of the increment specified in Section 9 (c) of the new Remuneration Order. An upgrading of remuneration won, as you are aware, through harsh struggles and strike movement ballots of transport workers, just before the last general elections ». De leur côté, les employés de la Corporation Nationale de Transport n’ont pas reçu la compensation salariale au terme de l’Additional Remuneration (2015) Act en ajoutant que « the Management has illegally reduced the additional remuneration that has been granted by the new government ».
Tout en signifiant son intention de déclencher une grève, l’UBIW souligne au ministre : « We are sure as the new Minister of the new government you will agree with us that no employer, be it the most economic powerful one or the most “protected one” cannot be allowed to deny remuneration to any workers of this country. It is the duty of the new government to ensure that all workers who toils for this country to get due respect of their rights, especially when it relates to remuneration. We rely on your urgent intervention to resolve the issue within a reasonable delay. » C’est en tout cas ce qu’ont estimé Imzad Beeharry, Zlain Kistnen et Ashok Subron dans la lettre déposée au ministère du Travail ce matin.
