AXYS : Eager to please?

The 2019/20 National Budget built up on existing foundations with continuity with respect to public infrastructure, a transition towards a sustainable economy, and alleviation of poverty and inequality. While some may have expected drastic measures aimed at Sugar, Manufacturing and Tourism; or highly populist measures ahead of the General Elections; the 2019/20 National Budget was sparsed with a plethora of scattered measures aimed at pleasing the vast majority of local entrepreneurs, and salaried workers with cut in petrol prices replacing the customary tax hikes on alcoholic and sugary beverages. An unexpected area of focus however was the will to strengthen regulation in the financial sector and gambling industry.
