After the failure of troops to protect the Capitol on 6th January (in particular due to reduced numbers), the authorities are planning to station more than 15,000 troops, National Guards and others, in the context of the open air inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States on 20th January.
It would take just one heavily armed guard (an outright supporter of Tru…? or an impersonator?), on duty in the front-line, to assassinate democracy in the USA.
Remember October 1981, when President Anwar Sadat of Egypt was assassinated by a group of army officers at a military parade to celebrate Egypt’s 1973 war against Israel?
Remember when Indira Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India, was assassinated in New Delhi by two of her own bodyguards, who emptied their guns into Gandhi as she walked to her office.
“Et tu Brute”: And Emperor Julius Caesar who was stabbed by Senators in the very Senate which he presided!
With only 1 day left to inauguration, let us hope that measures are being taken to ensure authenticity of all security personnel!
