In an emergency situation facing a novel threat, the mind is sometimes bewildered and the decision-making process tends to be clogged. I suspect this is the situation in Mauritius. We don’t have to justify this opinion. But we do not have to re-invent the wheel either.
We do not have the technology to build the light railway. We outsourced it from abroad. Outsourcing is fashionable.
It goes without saying that we don’t have the know-how to combat the Covid-19. We have to be honest to admit it. You remember the song – « Y a pas de pain chez nous. Y en a chez la voisine… ». But China has what it takes to conquer the pandemic. We need a fully equipped team, especially made up of decision-makers/takers who behave like air pilots in face of danger. China has made good use of Artificial Intelligence and 5G
Technology to surprise the World with its success. Would those in command care to heed this suggestion? And let China lead the fight. Better late… than later still.
