In between the soon to be old year

and the imminent new one
we wait in the wings
expectantly anticipating better
times to come , but trepidation
there is that things could be worse.
Looking back, bar the odd hiccups
it has not been dismally bad
on the average, at extreme edges
exceptionally fine and
also some calamities and catastrophes
have prevailed.
But we continue journeying in hope,
singing or crooning
despite lashings of rain, keeping up
the rhythms of life, eulogising
beauty at its best,
seeing stars deep into the firmament,
on earth briefly forgetting the worst.
