Le groupe MCB a été récompensé par Project Finance International (PFI), qui lui a décerné le titre de l’opération de l’année 2023 pour le Moyen-Orient et l’Afrique (Deal of the year). Le prix PFI récompense les réalisations et le travail novateur sur le marché mondial du financement de projets. L’opération de l’année pour le Moyen-Orient et l’Afrique a été attribuée à l’achat historique de Lekela Power, et dont le groupe bancaire a agi en tant que “joint lead arranger” pour le financement de l’acquisition afin de soutenir Infinity Power avec une solution de financement innovante pour l’emprunteur.
Infinity Power, joint-venture entre l’égyptien Infinity et l’émirati Masdar, s’est imposée comme la plus grande entreprise africaine d’énergie renouvelable, avec un portefeuille opérationnel de 1,3 GW à travers l’Égypte, l’Afrique du Sud et le Sénégal, réduisant les émissions de CO2 d’environ 3,5 millions de tonnes par an, visant à avoir 10 GW de projets d’énergie renouvelable opérationnels d’ici 2030, ce qui équivaut à un investissement de USD 5 milliards d’ici cette échéance. Mohamed Ismail Mansour, président d’Infinity Power, explique : « Receiving the PFI Deal of the Year award is a testament to the strategic vision and collaborative efforts that have defined Infinity Power’s journey. This acquisition marks a significant milestone in our commitment to driving sustainable growth in the African renewables sector. »
