Dans la lettre, le négociateur Atma Shanto dénonce « des actes qui restent impunis ».Il explique que « as you are aware that human rights are guaranteed in our Constitution and futhermore millions of rupees are yearly earmarked to finance the National Human Rights Commission and Independent Police Complaints Commission ».

Atma Shanto déplore ainsi que malgré l’existence de ces institutions, « police persists with their torture and violation which is a matter of serious concern ».

Racontant un fait récent où il allègue que, lors d’une manifestation pacifique, la police « were very excited towards me and all workers present » et « treatened to arrest us », le syndicaliste déplore qu’aucune action n’a été prise malgré une plainte faite à cet effet à la National Human Rights Commission.

Il conclut que « Police persists to use  »la force physique » and as Prime Minister you are duty bound to take appropriate action against the Commissioner of Police ».

COMPLAINTS AGAINST POLICE

Sir

The F.T.U has been compelled addressing to you regarding regular human right violation by Police.

As you are aware that human rights are guaranteed in our Constitution and futhermore millions of rupees are yearly earmarked to finance the National Human Rights Commission and Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Despite the existence of these institutions Police persists with their torture and violation which is a matter of serious concern.

On Sunday 06 March 2022, a symbolic protest was held at Mahebourg by the F.T.U to denounce bad conditions of employment in hotels and other sectors.

This said activity took place without the opposition of the Commissioner of Police.

On that day we noted the presence of some Police officers without uniforms and also other ranking officers in our activity.

They were very excited towards me and all workers present.

Police even decided that our activity was unlawful and treatened to arrest us.

On 08 March 2022 two leaders of the F.T.U made a written complaint at the National Human Rights Commission.

The F.T.U notes with great concern that as at today no action has been initiated in this matter.

Police persists to use  »la force physique » and as Prime Minister you are duty bound to take appropriate action against the Commissioner of Police.

Thanking you in anticipation,

Yours faithfully,
