Le collectif Sauve Beau-Vallon, qui a vu le jour jeudi dernier, et dont le porte-parole est Munsoo Kurrimbaccus, a envoyé une lettre aux autorités compétentes. Il leur demande de ne pas construire un nouveau bâtiment sur le stade de football à Beau-Vallon, mais un complexe sportif et une académie de football pour les jeunes de cette région. « Les jeunes de cette région manquent d’infrastructures sportives. Ils sont exposés à toutes sortes de fléaux », dit Munsoo Kurrimbaccus, qui est aussi président du Youth Network of Mauritius.
Dans une lettre adressée la semaine dernière à Mahen Jhugroo, ministère du Logement et des Terres, le porte-parole du collectif souligne : « In the budget speech 2019, the Honorable Minister of Finance announced the building of a modern MIDT Centre in Beau Vallon. Although, this initiative is a laudable one, there are speculations on its location which has created a deep sense of “malaise” within the community and NGOs of Beau Vallon, Mahebourg and the vicinity villages. In fact, there are rumors that the MITD Centre will be constructed on the actual football ground of Beau-Vallon. As there is no official announcement of the exact location, we have written to the authorities concerned to get clarification as to whether the football ground will be sacrificed for the construction of an MITD Centre. Please note that Beau Vallon and the vicinity areas is prone to diverse scourges such as drugs. It would be wise to optimize the current football grounds by setting up other sport facilities in the compound so that the youth benefit from healthy sport activities. »
