It is born green,
of waxy skin,
glabrous,
lustrous,
talked about
when distant,
evoking days
of wild ways,
an apple, not usual,
tannin-laden,
with the odd pips,
strange in taste,
still the palate
would delight
when yellow of flesh
and quite ripe.
