With minimal level of self-generated subsidies, we kept retail prices fixed for years, thus fulfilling our social mission to keep essential products within the reach of all. No easy task at all, against a stronger and stronger US dollar and rising prices ! The financial health of the corporation is today at its very best ever. Our own cash reserves are at their highest levels at Rs 1,5 billion. We also hold some Rs 1,8 billion in the PSA, the fruit of prudent pricing to shield the domestic market from oil-price volatility. »
Plus loin, le directeur général de la STC en partance ajoute : « We have set the ball rolling for a complete restructuring of the STC so that it can play a pivotal role in the development of Port-Louis as a Petroleum Hub, starting with a judicious exploitation of the untapped maritime traffic potential. STC will move into its own building in prime area of Ébène in October this year after operating in old rented premises for over 30 years. All of you have played a significant role in all these achievements, each one in his own way and at his own pace. I have much appreciated the value each of you added to the process. »
