VINCENT ALLET : It’s a great feeling to get on the scoresheet, a déclaré Darryl Holland

« We were a bit unlucky in the first meeting as we hit the crossbar on a number of times. We had a couple of seconds but the horses have really come to hand now as you can see today. It’s a great feeling to get on the scoresheet for 2015 ».
« Win A Million was expected to win but I thought it might me difficult when I saw that he was drawn 10 out of 10. He was very quick, he did not anticipate the start at all and he just pinned it. When the starter said «jockeys», he already had his nose on the gate and that was a huge plus. I was happy I was able to get on the fence somehow. It was the shortest way around and that counts a lot on a 1000m race. I think that’s where the race was won ». « He’s the kind of horse that likes to hang a little to the right, so it was basically hands and heels to balance him. I did not use the stick because he was doing his best. As you know, the stick does not make the horses go faster, it just keeps them to the work but he did not need that and he won quite well. He did not stop at the end, so you could say that he could go on a 1365m race but he’s pretty good on today’s distance. Like the old saying goes, if it’s not broken don’t fix it. So we’ll probably stick with the 1000m », a-t-il poursuivi.
« Rasheed was having none of it »
« We were obviously worried about the distance with Rasheed. It was his first time up, he was fit and I was just hoping he would get a decent gallop. He was quite strong and he finished off really well. He was very brave in the end. I wanted to go on the outside but he was not having it. As you know, he wears a pricker on the right side. When you are coming from that far back, you cannot afford to get stopped in your run. When we got round the turn, I wanted to go out but he was having none of it, so I took him back in. That was the right decision as it made him rally a bit », s’est félicité le Britannique à ce sujet.
« Streetbouncer ran a courageous race and nearly won. I got inconvenienced on the turn. I just got a little shuffle which did not help my cause. But the winner came around the field from a long way back. I was maybe unlucky but the winner did not have it easy either ».
« It was a big run from Kapiti Coast. We’re trying to get him to settle and we managed to do it. I took him out early because I did not want him to overace. I wanted him to run his race at the right end as it’s not won at the start. He finished off really good though. I think he’s got a good future if we can keep his mind right and get him more relaxed ».
« I had a great association with Soun Gujadhur… but times move on »
« The draw did not help Rock Of Arts. I wanted to be a little bit more handy but you have to work him early from that kind of draw. I decided to get in a bit but I think the pace beat me. Nevertheless, he was not fancied to win today but he certainly ran a huge race. There’s a decent race in him, » nous a confié notre interlocuteur à son sujet.
« The plan was to run with pace but we were a bit worried about the Merven horse (NDLR : Soaring Free) in case he would do that. The idea was to get a box seat which we got. With only seven runners in the field, it was always going to be a bit tactical. I thought Bandido Caballero would have been a lot further back but he was by my side early on. So Brandon was also aware of that fact. But Seneschal just did not fire. He travelled up well but he never looked like he was going to win on the turn. Bandido Caballero is a good horse though. He’s going to step up in class and he’ll win again. He was unlucky on two occasions before. I did beat him once with Wind Glider but he should have won that day ».
« I had a great association with Soun Gujadhur last season and he recommended me to Mr Allet, which I am grateful for. We had a good association but times move on and I’m with the Allet stable now. We’re working very closely in choosing the ideal races for our horses. They seem to be fit, which makes it easier for me. We’re doing well together and that counts a lot in a partnership », nous a dit notre interlocuteur britannique en guise d’explication.
