Effective Leadership or Shrewd Machiavellism ?

The Attorney General has been asked to resign. Appreciation has been expressed from various quarters including even by some members of the Opposition. Once all the noise dies down, we would need to ask ourselves the following questions :
•    Is Mr Varma a convenient scapegoat ?
•    Is Mr Varma being asked to resign because as a non-elected member he is politically dispensable and therefore easily replaced ?
•    Was this an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone – the second bird being Mr Issack ?
•    While Mr Varma’s alleged offence would be serious if established, would it rank first in the long list of misdemeanors by some MPs and people close to them ?
•     Is this a reaffirmation of fundamental values ?
•    Is this an evidence of effective leadership ?
