FOOTBALL: Maurice toujours 189e mondiale au classement FIFA
La sélection de football occupe toujours la 189e place au classement mondial. C’est ce qui ressort du dernier ranking de la FIFA publié mercredi dernier.
Elle comptabilise 17 unités et a même perdu un point par rapport au classement de mai suite à sa défaite devant la République démocratique du Congo (1-2), le 4 juin à Belle Vue pour le compte de la 4e journée des qualificatifs du groupe 5 comptant pour la CAN 2012.
La RDC a par contre gagné deux rangs en se situant désormais à la 124e place pour 238 pts. Quant au leader du groupe 5, le Sénégal, il a perdu trois places pour se retrouver au 43e rang mondial (619 pts). Le Cameroun, de son côté, a obtenu une place (48e, 595 pts).
Pour ce qui est des adversaires du Club M dans la poule A des 8es Jeux des îles de l’océan Indien (5 au 14 août aux Seychelles), les Maldives sont les mieux placées, même si elles ont perdu trois places (151e, 126 points). Les Comores ont — à la faveur de ce nul de 1-1 aux dépens de la Libye dans la CAN 2012 — gravi 24 places au classement, occupant actuellement la 164e place pour 80 pts au compteur.
Les Seychelles, qui ne se sont pas alignées à la CAN 2012, se situent à la 190e place. Madagascar, qui compose la poule B avec La Réunion et Mayotte, se classe à la 138e place. Elle accumule 166 pts.
Par ailleurs, c’est la Côte d’Ivoire qui est la meilleure équipe africaine de ce classement avec cette 14e place mondiale. Elle possède 922 pts. En tête, on retrouve toujours l’Espagne (1 871 pts) suivie des Pays-Bas (1 661 pts), de l’Allemagne (1 417 pts) et de l’Angleterre (1 146 pts).
Toujours est-il que la meilleure opération est à mettre à l’actif du Mexique. Il n’avait plus figuré dans le top 10 depuis juillet 2007, soit quasiment quatre ans. L’arrivée de José Manuel de la Torre à la tête de la sélection a provoqué un déclic qui s’est traduit par un bond de 19 places. Les Aztèques occupent désormais une neuvième place amplement méritée, surtout après leur succès dans la Gold Cup.

So Mauritius took a bold decision in abolishing racism via its football structure ? Have a look at the average crowds now, and 15 years ago; I used to be a keen Sunrise supporter, and always looked forward to their duels with Cadets and Fire Brigade. They made my Sundays worthwhile, and a regular news item was to tune in to the local scores.
Admit it, we are one of the worst footballing nations in the world; thanks to incompetent management, and a MFA which still thinks that regionalization is the solution. I've followed local football for nearly 30 years; seen many all time classics. All of that stopped in 1999.
Your ideas seem utopic; You need to attract the crowds first; review your policing; locate your CCTV cameras in hot spots; have a database of potential troublemakers;

100% agreed. Mauritius was much better in the 1990's and early 2000's where it was round 125th ranked by FIFA.
No one is really interested in football (Mauritian) anymore. I think if football was professional in Mauritius, it would progress much more. Think about it; footballers in MRU do not earn enough to support their living. They have to work like masons, carpenters... So y will any youngsters play foot in MRU?
The MFA has done a single thing to boost the level locally.
Mauritius has been from bad to worse. It seems that it is high time that this country should stop investing in football or change all the organistations and clubs
too much money is wasted in bureaucracy in sports. If the Mauritian team wants to go,.. 50 members wants to follow,. dude, u just need the manager, the kine and the doctor, thats it ,let other stay home,.. and then u can start giving good salary to the players so that they can invest in their training,..
else do like all mauritians do,. take a european or the brasilian team to be your team and support them instead of your national team, coz i dont see hope for miles,.....

I do not understand why are we so disappointed with the results of club M! We must not forget that Mauritius had to take a bold decision to abolish racism in football and we did that. What is more important - football or national security? We need to accept the aftermath of this bold decision. I am confident that with time Mauritius will do better in football. We need time and action! A few suggestions are to open football academies (schools) in the afternoon and to re-launch inter-college inter- (primary) school football championships. It is up to the Government to decide how to implement it.

Can racism be ever abolished in Mauritius? Has the so call bold decision to kill foot ball effectively abolished racism in Mauritius? NO! Stupid decision was taken by stupid people with a hidden agenda!
Mauritius never had racism. Football was communalist and it was a good thing in many ways as it made Mauritius great in football at Indian Ocean level.
Regionalization will work but not the way it is being done at this moment. It must be enlarged further and more teams must be created in order to have a bigger league. The secret of the success of regional football in any parts of the world is to have more local clubs.
After years and decades of having French technician and trying to revamp the Club M. We are still 189th.
On the economic front we seemed to use the Mauritius as a model for Africa.
Whilst in Football. Country with civil war and political unstability like ivory coast are actually performing well.
Sure we must be doing wrong?
May be navin can get an expert from Singapore to come and lead the Mauritius team and raise the national flag to new horizons. Of course that's just a dream. All is a complete joke. We might as well shut down all the football team and not have club M as it more of disgrace with all the money and millions spent over years. No result whatsoever.
