Mauritian artist Priya Jugduth and photographer Pravin Bhowanydeen, also popularly known as Pra Bho, are currently showcasing the sweet fruits of their labours in an exhibition at Lakaz Flanbwayan, Medine, which is open to the public till the 29th of October 2021.  Blurred impressions and splashes of colours magically combine to bring to life a canvas of the artists’ own perceptions and the power of our imagination. The senses are awakened as each person reacts differently to what the artists are portraying; a profound meditative moment in this otherwise hectic existence. Time seems to stand still while we go through a quiet contemplative mode of following the unpredictable patterns of light and shadows.

Fluid Acrylic Impressions

With a masterfully executed pouring of vibrant colours on either blank canvas or MDF boards with a finishing touch of resin, Priya Jugduth pulls her audience into a mind-bending duel of interpretation. The eyes follow each individual line and contour of colours along a unknown destination, yet. Gradually, the bigger picture emerges from the depths of the pouring process; nothing is haphazard. The artist in fact has full control over where she is headed and which emotions she wishes to portray from a personal stance; a fiery abyss spreading out due to the collusion of strong shades or a cool, soothing lighter outlook.

Pra Bho’s photographic displays project a different take on capturing the critical point in the crux of the action. The blurry hues are juxtaposed with the vividness of reality. This is the time to take a step back and ponder on the dynamic vision of life; a constant battle between illusion and the truth. That ‘twilight’ moment when it is neither day nor night, leads us to question our acumen and eventually, develop our own insight of how we view things around us. This nuance is superbly expressed through the skills of the seasoned photographer who is here to shatter conventions, by incorporating his unique take on photography.
